What is Spottune Stream?

The Spottune Stream is the core of the Spottune audio system. It works as the transmitter, sending audio wirelessly to all connected Spottune Omni and Sub speakers. It also manages zones, allows different inputs, and connects to Spottune Cloud for remote control and monitoring.

How It Works

Spottune Stream uses DECT wireless technology (1.8–1.9 GHz band) to transmit audio to the speakers.
This provides several advantages compared to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth:

  • Stable transmission – DECT is not affected by crowded Wi-Fi networks.

  • Synchronized audio – All speakers play in perfect sync without delay.

  • Long range – Coverage up to 50 meters indoors, depending on building layout.

⚠️ Important Note
When installing, keep in mind:

  • Place the Stream centrally for even coverage.

  • Avoid placing the unit in metal racks, behind thick walls, or close to large electronic devices that could block or reflect signals.

  • For multi-floor buildings, one Stream per floor is recommended.

  • Be aware of other devices operating in the DECT frequency range, as they can create interference. Common examples include wireless telephones, wireless headsets, baby monitors, and some conference systems.

Available Inputs

Spottune Stream supports several input options, making it easy to adapt to different setups:

  • AUX (Mini Jack) – direct connection to phones, computers, or media players.

  • USB – playback from external storage.

  • LAN (Ethernet) – streaming via Spottune Cloud and remote management.

  • Mic In – microphone input for announcements.

  • Bluetooth (disabled by default) - can be enabled if needed. Read our article on How to Enable Bluetooth on your Spottune Stream.

  • Spotify Connect (disabled by default) – can be enabled if needed. Read our article on How to Enable Spotify Connect on your Spottune Stream.

Best Practices for Optimal Performance

To achieve the best possible sound performance, correct placement and setup of the Spottune Stream are essential:

  • Place the unit centrally in the area it should cover.

  • Ensure it has line of sight to as many speakers as possible.

  • Avoid closed cabinets and large metal obstacles.

  • Always use stable power - and, if applicable, a reliable internet connection, to access the Spottune Cloud Features.
