Step 5: Add New Routine

When the Routine Group it expanded, click + NEW ROUTINE, to add a Routine to the Routine Group.

Step 6: Select Trigger Type

When adding a routine, you can either trigger the Routine by Time of Day or Sensor.

  • Time of Day Routines will Trigger the Routine on a Time of Day

  • Sensor Routines will Trigger the Routine via a call of a Specific API URL. Read our article on How to Create and Add Sensors.

The rest of this Guide will use the Time of Day Routine as the example, but there is no difference between Time of Day Routines and Sensor Routines other than the Triggering Method.

Step 7: Select Time of Day for the Routine

Select which Time of Day should trigger the Routine.

  • If you want the Routine to be Triggered every day, check off the Every Day box.

  • If you want the Routine to be triggered on Specific days only, check off the desired day(s). Once selected, the day-indicator turns dark blue.

Once the Time of Day schedule is selected, click the ADD ROUTINE button to confirm.

🧠 Pro tip: You can assign several Routines to specific routine groups within a location. This allows you to organize all automations for that site in one place β€” for example, opening and closing hours, volume schedules, or playlists tailored to that location. Using groups makes it easier to manage and adjust routines when you have multiple sites in Cloud HQ.

Step 8: Expand Routine

Once the Routine is Created, click the Routine to expand.

Step 9: Add Action

Once the Routine is expanded, click the + ADD ACTION button. The action determines what will happen when the Routine is triggered.

Step 10: Select Action

Next, you need to Select the type of Action, which is triggered by the Routine.

When Selecting the Action, you also have the option to select which Zones (1, 2, or in both Zones), that the Action will be triggered.

Step 11: Add Action Confirmation

When the desired Action is Selected, click ADD ACTION to confirm.

🧠Pro tip: A single routine can include multiple actions. For example, you can set the volume, and start a playlist β€” all triggered at the same time. Combining actions in one routine reduces the need for manual adjustments and ensures a consistent audio experience every day.

Routine Group, Routine and Actions are now Created. Keep reading to learn how to add the Routine Group to a Specific Stream.
