Step-by-Step Guide to Positioning the Stream
Where you place your Spottune Stream directly affects the performance of your system. A central and elevated position helps maximize coverage and minimize signal loss, while poor placement can lead to weak connections or interruptions. This guide outlines best practices for positioning your Stream and highlights common mistakes to avoid, so you can achieve optimal day-to-day operation and a stable, long-term setup.
Step 1: Place the Stream Centrally
Position the Stream as close to the physical center of the coverage area as possible.
A central placement ensures equal wireless distribution to all Omni speakers.
Step 2: Ensure Open Surroundings
Place the Stream in an open area with good visibility - preferably in an elevated position.
Avoid backrooms, closed cabinets, metal enclosures, or tight corners. These can block or weaken the DECT signal.
Step 3: Mount Antennas in V-Formation
Always install the two antennas in a V-formation, angled slightly apart.
This improves coverage and minimizes dropouts.
Step 4: Keep Distance from Interference Sources
Avoid placing the Stream directly next to Wi-Fi routers, large metal objects, or electronic equipment that emits radio noise.
Maintain at least 1–2 meters of distance from such devices.
Step 5: Secure Network Access (Optional)
Ensure the Stream is close enough to a LAN connection if Ethernet is used.
Stable network access is critical for Spottune Cloud, firmware updates, and music streaming services.
⚠️Note: Spottune Stream works perfectly fine offline, but internet access is required for updates, Cloud features, future improvements and easy troubleshooting.
Do’s and Don’ts for Placement
✅Do:
Place Stream centrally in the coverage area.
Mount antennas in V-formation and keep them visible.
Maintain open surroundings and easy access for service.
❌Don’t:
Hide the Stream inside metal racks, cabinets, or behind concrete walls.
Place it next to heavy electronic interference sources (routers, servers, etc.).
Position it off to one side of the building unless only covering one area.
⚠️ Important Note
Correct placement of the Stream is just as important as the installation of the Omni speakers. A poorly placed Stream can lead to unstable connections, even if all speakers are installed correctly.
